How to redeem LNT Infrastructure Bonds

I would like to inform you that I am a regular reader of your messages sent to me through mail and I feel these are very informative and educative and also very helpful in deciding funds selection. Sir, one more thing I want to know my friend has invested some amount in LNT Infra Bond for tax saving in 2011 and now he desires to encash the bond. I have tried to contact on phone line but phones are not working (may be out of service). Emails sent are bounced back. Kindly advise if you have any information regarding their contact number/address/mail id etc. to enable me to contact LNT Infra?

Thanks for writing to us and the kind words about Advisorkhoj. Glad to note that you are one of our regular readers and found our blog informative and useful.

With regards to your above query, please note the following –

1. In your query, you have not mentioned the L&T Infra Bond Series, therefore, we are unable to provide you with the exact buy back dates etc.

2. Please also note that these tax saving bonds were issued with tenure of 10 years, but buy back options were also provided after 5 years and 7 years. Please check this link to know the complete details of buy back dates and features of each and every bond series issued by L&T Infrastructure Finance Company Limited.

3. Please also check the last communication issued by L&T Infrastructure Finance Company Limited, with regards to buy back of Series 1 and 2 of 2011-2012. I think, your friend must have bought these bonds under any one out of these two series. The buy back amount for these two series would be paid on March 24, 2017 but unfortunately the last date for applying for these buy backs are now over - The last date was December 24, 2016.

4. The following is the Registrar and Transfer agent details of these bonds –

Registrar and Share Transfer Agent: M/s.Link Intime India Private Limited C-13, Pannalal Silk Mills Compound L.B.S. Marg, Bhandup (West) Mumbai –400078 Tel: +91 22 2596 7796 Fax:+91 22 2594 6969 E-mail: Toll Free No:1800 227 796

5. Your friend can now apply for buy back at the end of the 7 year and for that he should keep a watch on the notice issued by the registrars.

Hope the above helps you. Thanks for writing to Advisorkhoj : )
