Investment of lumpsum amount for emergency purpose

I want to invest Rs. 1 lakh in mutual funds as a lumpsum amount for a 3 year period. I want to get best returns and i want to keep as an emergency fund that whenever emergency requirement comes for me i will take back. Kindly suggest me the best funds for above amount. This money will be reserve money for the emergency situations?

Even though your investment horizon is 3 years, you want to keep the funds for emergency purpose. Therefore, you should not invest in equity oriented mutual funds. You may, however, invest in Short Term Funds or liquid Funds as you mentioned that its an emergency fund and you may require it any time.
