Where to invest my PPF amount as I am retired

Please advised me considering my age 73. I have PPF which is going to be matured November this year. My total amount is 20 lakh. I am retired from business. I have no liability. I have already invested in 16 lakh in HDFC Prudence Fund Direct Dividend pay out. Should I invest in PPF amount in Mutual funds or not?

During your retirement years, you need regular income preferably monthly from your accumulated savings.

You have already invested in HDFC Prudence Fund and receiving monthly dividends. The amount of Rs 20 Lakhs which is going to mature in November 2017 can also be invested in monthly dividend paying balanced funds with a good performance track record. The other option is that you can invest the entire amount in good balanced fund schemes in growth option and start withdrawing a fixed amount every month on a fixed date through SWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan).

Some of the top performing balanced fund which pays monthly dividends are - ICICI Prudential Balanced Fund, DSP BlackRock Balanced Fund and L&T India Prudence Fund.

The other top performing balance funds which do not pay monthly dividends but pay quarterly dividends are - HDFC Balanced Fund, SBI Magnum Balanced Fund and Birla sun Life Balanced 95 Fund.
