Is the balanced fund right option for lump sum investments

I want to invest Rs. 10lakh lump sum amount in mutual fund for five years. Is the balanced fund right option to invest lump sum amount? My aim is to earn more returns and ready for some risk also. So is the balanced fund right option?

Selection of funds for investing in mutual funds should be based on your investment horizon and risk taking appetite.

If you do not want to take much risk, then yes, balanced funds are very good option for investing for 5 years or more.
